Miss Sheetal, the Director and founder of Nrutyasangini Dance Institute is a dancer, choreographer and teacher in Bharatanatyam, Indian folk dances, and Yoga. A dancer from heart, Sheetal took her formal education in Commerce from Gujarat University. After graduating She took Arangentram training from Mrs. Khamma Shah and it just took less than year to complete Arangentram which usually takes seven years-the basic duration of the study . She has performed Mruchhakatikam and Ohm Namah Shivay Dance drama under the guidance of Mrs. Khamma Shah.
The road never ended with Nrutyavishard examination, she decided to go for Bharatnatyam and this was Mrs. Archita Mehta an expert in Kalakshetra dance style and one of the best Kalaguru from the prestigious Kalakshetra College of Fine Arts founded by Mrs. Rukmini Devi Arundale at Chennai city of Tamilnadu, India was her Guru. Under Mrs. Archita Mehtas guidance she cleared her Nrutya Alankar from Akhil Bhartiya Gandharv Mahavidhyalaya Mandal , Mumbai.
Usually when such training begin at a very young age, Sheetal began her training at the later stage of Life and that too after completing her graduation. She believes ‘Age cannot be an hinderance to achieve’ and the passion and affection for dance helped her to scale the new height.
Was this the end of the road, no the road never ends for Sheetal and now she is a qualified professional. She also hold distinction of clearing UCG NET Exam and has been awaded with many prestigious Awards- The prestigious “Gaurav Purashkar “ By The Sports, Youth And Cultural Activities Department And Gujarat Sangeet Natak Academy In 2012, and was also felicitated By Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.
Sheetal is also the recipient of the 2015 ‘Gujarat Lok-Kala Foundation National Award. In 2016, She received “Bhim Ratna Award” at the program Sanvidhan Se Swabhiman Tak From Congress Party and one more in the category was the another prestigious award- “Savitribai Phule Mahila Award” from Department Of Social Justice & Empowerment.
The Journey does not end with these awards, Sheetal decided to impart training and now shee conduct classes in bharatnatyam, Indian folk dance And yoga.
Performance is what an artist has been longing for and so is Sheetal, she has performed in several state and has been part of Gujarat State Level occasions like – Vibrant Festivals, Kite Festivals, RannUtsav,Independence Day & Republic Day Celebrations to name the few.
Not just state but Sheetal has performed on National Level Stages too – Modhera Sun Temple for the Uttrardh Mahotsav – 2014 and appeared as a solo performer in Radha – Krishna dance performance amidst 4800 fellow performers and a spectacular 50,000 plus audience. The solo performance was a part of Aagekadam- the event organised at Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad to mark the Golden Jubilee Celebration of Gujarat. She has achieved the distinction of managing the Swarnim Gujarat Mahotsav at Nagpur in front of then Chief Minister and now the Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi. The List does not end here, Sheetal has performed during the grand opening of State Transport bus stand at Geeta Mandir Ahmedabad in presence of the then Chief Guest Chief Minister of Gujarat and now the Governor of Madhya Pradesh Shrimati Anandiben Patel. She was also called upon for the inauguration ceremony of ‘Dhanvantari Rath’ by “Gujarat Makaan Ane Anya Bandhkaam Shramyogi Kalyan Board, Gujarat”. Sheetal was invited by Somnath Sanskrit University, to deliver a classical dance group performance in the vicinity of Somnath temple in presence of the Governer of Gujarat, Shri O.P. Kohli.
She is a consistent performer at National Khaadi Utsav at Ahmadabad and has been an unbeaten performer at the Kankaria Carnival since last 9 years. Be it a youth Festival or a college event or a competition, Sheetal has appeared as a choreographer, participant and judge. Not only university, colleges and schools Sheetal has been a judge even at state and national level competitions for classical and folk dance.
